This is a pretty classic Montoliva Sangiovese. Dark ruby in color, a hint of black cherries and pepper on the nose, just a touch of chalky dryness in the finish. Light raspberry/strawberry in the mid-palate that is nicely complimented by being medium bodied. This is Cal-Ital at its finest expression, not too fruit forward, not too dry in the finish. It was another moderately light harvest of 3 tons. We normally expect to harvest 4-5 tons from our estate Sangiovese. This is becoming a trend, and may indicate it is time to start re-planting the Sangiovese, section by section. I only produced 140 cases of this wine.
