Negroamaro is Italian for "black" (negro) and "bitter" (amaro). Oddly named because the wine is not particularly dark, and it definitely is not bitter. Black cherry and peppercorn flavors, with a hint of black tea spiciness. The finish is moderately dry with a lingering pie cherry effect. I do not filter any of my red wines, occasionally one will throw a bit of sediment in the bottle. Thus it is with this wine. I could say that I am striving for “authenticity”, or it is part and parcel of “natural” wine making. The reality is, I’ve never put one of my red wines through a filter and not have the wine that comes out the other end diminished. It may be clearer, but it definitely is altered in a way that I don’t care for. So, I simply don’t filter my reds. We produced 80 cases of this rare and beautiful wine.
