Falanghina 2025
Tom Hyland, wine writer for Forbes Magazine says, "Medium deep yellow; aromas of melon, golden apple and orange rind. Medium-bodied, this offers impressive freshness, good acidity; a clean, well-rounded finish and notable varietal character; there is impressive texture".
Harvested at 22 brix, we gave the fruit about 8 hours of skin contact time before pressing. Not quite an "orange" wine, definitely fuller bodied than a typical Italian Falanghina. Falanghina has followed an interesting path. There is very little of it grown in California. Fifty years ago there was very little of it grown in Italy. Today it is the most widely grown white wine varietal in southern Italy. We planted Falanghina at our Wabash Avenue Vineyard (about a mile from the estate vineyard) back in 2015. We only produced 60 cases of this vintage.
