Due Baci 2021
I am very particular about Due Baci. Italian for “Two Kisses”, I first made this blend (only about 5 cases of it) in 2008 from vintage 2006 estate grapes. The occasion was my wedding to my soul mate and muse, Julianne. Our guests liked it so much I decided to continue producing it. This vintage is a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Aglianico. I make this wine to be an interesting juxtaposition of bright, dry and lean, perfect for one of my favorite winter meals, which includes a spicy marinara sauce, gobs of Italian cheeses and some well seasoned chicken. Only 120 cases produced.
Our Due Baci was reviewed in Forbes Magazine in 2023. Here is what they had to say, "Bright, medium-intense garnet; aromas of pink peppercorn, tomato plant and dried orange peel. Medium-bodied with very good concentration, this is hearty and quite spicy, with medium-weight tannins, balanced acidity and good persistence. Another year in the bottle will help round out this wine which is reminiscent of a southern Italian red from years ago (I say that as a compliment). Pair with pastas with Bolognese sauce or grilled meats, and enjoy over the next 2-5 years. (91)"
