2006 Sinistra Reserve

In the Summer of 2008 we were bottling our 2006 Sinistra. At bottling time we were firmly convinced that our '06 was even better than our '05 Sinistra, which won high praise at the Dallas Morning News International Wine Competition.  Which got us thinking...just how much better would it be with another year in the barrel?  So, we put two barrel's worth of the '06 back into oak barrels and left them until the Spring of 2009, when we bottled those 50 cases.  The wine is nothing short of spectacular.  All the lean, muscular complexity that you expect from a Montoliva wine, with just a kiss of oakiness that you don't expect from a Montoliva wine (that extra year in the barrel made more difference than we expected!). 

 

As with our regular Sinistra Super-Tuscan, our Reserve is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Aglianico.
